rust

the idyllic town of rust, with only about 1,800 inhabitants, is the smallest administrative district and also the smallest statutory city in austria. rust is known above all as the 'city of storks' and as a wine-growing community. the entire picturesque old town center is now heritage-listed and was added to the unesco world heritage list in 2001, together with the lake neusiedl region.
